ABOUT

Cat Soares is a Brazilian filmmaker and actress based between New York City and Paris, fluent in English, French, and Portuguese. A graduate of the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, Soares began her career in front of the camera before stepping behind it, developing an extensive background in the film industry and directing numerous projects with a sharp visual sensibility.

By the age of 16, she had already directed four short films through the New York Film Academy’s programs in Florence and Paris (La Fémis campus). Her work explores themes of taboo, confronting emotional and societal boundaries through a daring cinematic lens.

Her latest short film, Despair Came Knocking, has been nominated at two international film festivals, marking her as one of the most promising emerging voices of her generation.
